State Bank of India fulfilling its Corporate Social Responsibility donated Rs. 2 crore to Chief Minister Relief Fund for the victims of recent natural disaster in Uttarkashi and Chamoli districts. Mr. B Sriram, Chief General Manager, SBI, handed over the cheque to Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna at his residence on Sunday. The bank also donated 100 mattresses to Ramakrishna Mission, Dehradun, for distribution to flood affected people of the area.
Chief Minister Bahuguna called on the people to extend their support to face natural calamity that has hit the State and donate relief amount for victims in the hour of crisis. He said that State Government was dedicatedly carrying out the relief works. Mr. Bahuguna said that if climate permitted, he, along with Disaster Management Minister, would visit affected areas on 14 or 16 August and review the relief work on the spot.
He said that State Bank of India had also contributed in the development of state. He said that SBI's gesture would inspire others to extend help to the affected people. He expected that SBI would also open its branches in remote areas.
Senior Congress Leader Brahma Swaroop Brahmachari donated cheque of Rs. 1 lakh, SP Kotchar donated Rs. 50,000 and Surendramuni donated Rs. 31,000 for CM Relief Fund.
Also present on the occasion were Chief Secretary Alok Kumar Jain, General Manager Corporate Centre, Mumbai, Padmaja Nair,GM (NW-II) Sunil Srivastava and DGM Uttarakhand Diwakar Bhatt.
